KICK OFF
Center for Being was officially opened on January 29th, 2009. To give this beautiful spot both roots and wings, a selected group of people was invited to open the Center with a small ritual. The next day the Center opened for everyone who wanted to see and feel it.
On the Photos page you can see what the Center looks like. Underneath you will find the input of the guests, as well as the opening speech of the 29th of January.
Roots and wings

Speech Opening ritual January 29th, 2009
“Welcome! May we now toast to all of us, to our being, and to this Center. May this Center be a place where many people will find their true essence of being, and true happiness! Cheers!
I won’t explain why this Center is here, for that’s only words. I won’t be showing the things I do here, for these are only deeds. What I would like to say is that Center for Being is about BEING. About being who we truly are, which is a life long process of learning. This lifetime is a refresher course, plug in and learn and then go home again. It is nice at home!
The Center simply supports this process of the discovery of BEING. In whatever way you would like to interprete, experience, or express it. We are all so different, but our essence is one and the same. This discovery is being stimulated by Center for Being.
Your input of words is beautiful. The words are here to fill the Center. For when we express the words that stand for the things we find important in our lives, we don’t only do that for ourselves, but for many other people. You could compare it to the tabacco ties the Lakota Indians create before going into the sweat lodge. We fill little bags with tabacco and add a wish or prayer. If you wish something for yourself or someone else, expand the wish to everyone. Expanding the wish, is always including you as well as the other anyway! By expressing the words that have been written down by someone else, we give the Center its base, its roots, its solidity.
The feathers you brought are gorgeous too, so different in shape and color! The symbolic meaning of feathers is used in many cultures and religions. Always with the same meaning though; whether it is stated by Indians, Egyptians, Christians or Kelts, feathers offer the metaphor of spirituality, the pathway to light, to freedom, the connection to the universal knowing, the universal wisdom and truth. Spirituality to me is nothing less or more than being in touch with my spirit, my essence. And from there on connecting to everything else out there, in what ever shape and using whatever label: the source, the light, god, allah, jaweh, the universe, the cosmos, etc. I like feathers. They come from wings and wings can fly. These feathers are the wings of the Center.
And so, the words give Center for Being her roots, the feathers give it her wings. Roots and wings, like we human beings are also a combination. We are not just a physical body, and we are not only light. We are a combination and it is our challenge to be light in a physical body. Center for Being is intended as support in this process. Do enjoy it!
Aloha Pumehana, love from the heart!"
